Piranha 3D
Piranha 3D is a horror/thriller about a species of piranha which vanished 2 million years ago, however an earthquake has opened a crack in the lakes floor down to their cave and unleashed them once again! This has happened at the worst time as it is spring break and thousands of college kids have gone down to the lake to celebrate. The coastguard tries to warn them of the lake shouting "The sheriff has declared an emergency!" but a student shouts in response "Don't worry we've got beer over here" which puts a stop to the coastguards announcement and the party continues. But not for much longer! As one of the prehistoric piranha bits its first victim, it draws blood which draws in the whole pack to the location of all 20 thousand students. The trailer shows as the pack swarms in on the students, hunting down their prey.
Piranha shows some conventions of a trailer however there are a few added extras to add tension. The first text that is shown is the film company logo, Dimension Films, which is shown in the 17th second to tell the viewer straight away exactly who makes the film. It then tells the viewer that it is the same director of 'The Hills Have Eyes' and producer of '300' which will show the viewer that this is very likely going to be a very good film. The next thing it tells you when the film will be released, and then it will reinstade this at the end of the trailer. It has an unusul title sequence in which is has single words every second which eventually says 'HOW FAST CAN YOU SWIM?'. This is to show the threat that they are under. The last thing after the trailer that you will see is the title followed by the release date.
